Activated Allies: WHY NOW?
SHIFTING LANDSCAPE
-
The landscape of workplace allyship for professionals of color (POCs) has shifted dramatically in 2025, shaped by a rising anti-DEI sentiment. Many POCs experience heightened scrutiny and a renewed sense of isolation.
-
Formal organizational structures and cultures once supported allyship. Today, however, allyship faces new challenges, as well as opportunities for adaptation and resilience.
-
The work of allies, though often less visible, remains an important tool for POCs navigating the new realities of the workplace.

ALLIES ADAPT
-
The decline of formal DEI support has activated many allies in the workplace. For them, allyship for professionals of color is reinventing itself—becoming more personal, strategic, and resilient.
-
Allyship is becoming more grassroots and individualized. Informal peer-to-peer support has become more vital than ever. Allies are adapting by creating discreet, safe spaces for dialogue and mutual encouragement—often away from public organizational channels.
-
For some allies who have been activated, they choose to now balance their advocacy with considerations for their own safety and job security, leading to more subtle and creative forms of support (source: “White Men as Full Diversity Partners—Allyship”)
